In 1929, Royce was founded to manufacture chemicals for textile industry in a plant in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Our first products were Sodium Hydrosulfite, Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate and Zinc Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate.

Today more than 80 years later we are still supplying these products that formed the foundation of our company. But today, Royce has evolved into a diversified, international company.

 
1929 The Royce Chemical Company was founded by Albert J. Royce, Sr. as a Textile Chemical Manufacturing Concern. Its primary products were Sodium Hydrosulfite, Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate and Zinc Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate. Royce has remained in the production of Reductive Chemicals for over 80 years.
1977 Royce built a Zinc Powder plant for captive consumption, as well as to sell it to the major alkaline battery manufacturers.
1977 Royce purchased Passaic Color and Chemical, putting it in the dyestuff business for Plastics, Paper, Leather and Textiles industries.
1978 Royce built an Indigo Dispersion plant in New Jersey and became a major supplier of Indigo Dye in the US Textile Market
1979 Royce expands the Indigo business by adding Vat Dyes and Auxillaries to its Product line supported by a New Plant in NC.
1989 Royce began to manufacture Color Concentrates and compounds for the plastics industry.
1990 Royce began manufacturing micronized waxes for the Ink, Coatings, and Plastics Industries.
1995 Transferred Phenalkamine Resin technology and formed a strategic alliance with Cibatul, a former joint venture of Ciba-Geigy in India.
1996 Royce opened office and Technical Center in Tainjin, China.
1996 Royce formed Royce International, creating additional strategic alliances throughout Europe and Asia.
2000 Royce introduced innovative bleaching systems to Pulp and Paper industry.
2003 Royce receives a patent for high performance reductive chemicals for the paper industry.
2004 Royce expands operations in China to cater to local demand of the country.
2009 Royce International forms a joint venture with Palmer International for manufacture of Amine curing agents at Skippack, PA. The 50-50 JV is called RP International.
